Even in COVID times, a great destination. Well organised outdoor consumption, and a lovely place to visit, with friendly staff. Interested what the solution will be for the cross country skiing season, assuming there's any snow of course. In normal times, it's at its most charming on a crisp, snowy, winter's day with the fire roaring!

A very beautiful hiking destination in the Harz. The easiest route is from the Stieglitzecke, although the Reitsteig is the more beautiful, but also more demanding and, in some weather conditions, wetter route than the Ackerstraße. There are further ascent options from Sieber, Lonau and from the Sösetalvorsperre. The route from Osterode is also very attractive, but long. In the hut there is a large selection of drinks and delicious stew, cakes and other dishes. Hungry hikers can get an extra sausage for an additional charge, as shown in the picture. Access by car or bus is not possible. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a wide panoramic view from the tower and there are toilets available. In winter you can sit comfortably by the fireplace, in summer there are plenty of places outside.
One of the most beautiful places in Harz 😁 where you can go by bike or hike there.
